(a) A five-unit sequence in Business or Interdisciplinary can be used in place of the three-unit State Foreign Language requirements for an Advanced Regents Diploma and must include Career & Financial Management.

Introduction to Financial Accounting- Grades 10-12: The objectives of this course are to understand the basic accounting information system, to learn, to read and understand a set of basic financial statements and to be aware of the current issues in financial accounting and their impact on organizational stakeholders. This course offers students the ability to earn 4 credits through Syracuse University. (SUPA- Syracuse University Project Advance)
Career & Financial Management - Grades 10-12: This course will provide students with the skills to research potential careers, explore college options and perform job searches. Students will also learn to create career portfolios that include job applications, resume, cover letter and references. Other topics that will covered include job interviews and workplace skills. Guest speakers will present their various career fields. Personal money management skills including building a budget, managing a checking account, investing money, housing, credit, insurances, automobiles, decision making, and consumer protection will also be topics. (Full year, 1.0 credit)
Advertising & Marketing - Grades 10-12: The objectives of this course is to introduce students to different aspects of advertising including print media, ad design, broadcast media, internet advertising, search engine optimization, social media ads and influencers. Marketing topics will include direct marketing, personal selling, sales promotions, sponsorships, public relations, marketing ethics, product development, market research, pricing strategies, product placement and branding. (Full year, 1.0 credit)
Fundamentals of Law - Grades 10-12: This course will explore and examine court systems, criminal law, civil law, marriage/divorce, traffic stop and DWI, contracts, discriminations, common estate planning, taxes, real estate, etx. Examples of instruction will include lectures, discussions, debates, guest speakers, mock trials, independent reading, field trip and videos. (Full year, 1.0 credit)
Keyboarding and Computers - Grades 9-12: This course will teach students to develop proper keyboarding techniques using the alphabetic keys, number keys, and keypad keys. A goal of the course is to increase accuracy and speed (35 WPM/ 97% ACC). Students will also be introduced to Microsoft Word (business letters, memorandums, and outlining/auto numbering). An introduction to Microsoft Office 2016 will cover Word (7-weeks, PowerPoint (6-weeks), and Excel (7-weeks). (Full years, 1.0 credit)
Microsoft Office Suite - Grades 10-12: Office Suite provides students with a deeper understanding of the following Microsoft Office 2019 programs: PowerPoint (10-weeks), Excel (10-weeks), and Expert Word or Excel (10-weeks). Students will receive Microsoft Office Specialist Certification upon completion of the course.

Principles of Business & Entrepreneurship - Grades 11-12: This course will cover principles of business including the business process, economics of business, elevator pitch, management, human resources, marketing and accounting and finance. Students will also learn about how to develop business ideas, organize a business plan, analyze competition, marketing the idea, business structures, legal requirements, and attracting investors and raising money. (Full year, 1.0 credit)
Entrepreneurship (2nd semester) This course is designed to introduce students to the role that entrepreneurship and small business play in our economic system. An in-depth study of the various steps involved in starting a new business and the financial, legal, and government aspects critical to a successful small business will be covered. Topics include marketing, economics, competition, communication, and human resources. Students will be involved in a variety of activities including project based learning, guest speakers, field trips, and development of a business plan. (Full year, 1.0 credit)
