Driver Education Course

Le Roy Central School offers a NYS approved driver education course for teenage drivers. If your teenager successfully completes this course, they will receive an MV-285 student certificate (formerly known as the blue card). The objectives of our driver education course is to provide your teenager with the MV-285 certificate which must be provided when scheduling their road test and shown to the examiner on the day of the road test and to help your teenager develop good habits as they practice driving.

Course highlights include 24 hours of classroom instruction and 24 hours of behind the wheel training and observation. Driver education courses are offered each semester. Participants will meet for lecture class at Le Roy Jr.-Sr. High School room 304. For driving and observation, all students meet by the Athletic Entrance.
 
SUMMER SCHEDULE:

The summer semester runs for approximately 8 weeks, starting after July 1. Initially, participants will meet for lecture class, during which road class times will be assigned. The driving times vary throughout the day, usually between 8 a.m. and 1 p.m. All classes are 90 minutes in duration.

SCHOOL YEAR SCHEDULE:

The fall semester runs from October to January and the spring semester runs from February to May. Initially, participants meet at 7:00 a.m. weekdays for class. Once enough classroom hours have been completed, participants will be given scheduled driving times. The driving times available are 7:00 am to 7:45 am and 3:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Classes are held on holidays and during the holiday breaks.
